Soviet Medal for the Defense of Sevastopol Variation 1b-1 WW2
Variation with a raised rim on its obverse and a larger distance between the ends of the naval cap tally
Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.18 mm in width, 37.15 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 16.1 gram without its suspension.
This original medal is in excellent, well above average condition. There are relatively few dings and scratches and all details are crisp on both sides. A fair amount of gold plating is still present the double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal. The ends of the connection ring are soldered together by the Soviet Mint.
Hard to find, especially in this condition!
This medal was awarded to all participants in the defense of Sevastopol. Both to soldiers and civilians, who took part in the defense of Sevastopol during its siege by German forces.
