Soviet Medal for the Defense of Odessa Variation 1 WW2
Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.22 mm in width, 37.05 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 16.4 gram without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent, well above average condition with light overall wear and much gold plating present. There are relatively few dings and scratches and even the details of the soldiers and the lighthouse are perfectly visible. Its reverse is in similar condition and clearly shows the edges of the lettering and the hammer & sickle. The double layer suspension is time period to the medal and its connection ring has not been cut.
Hard to find!
This medal was awarded to all participants in the defence of Odessa. Both to soldiers and civilians, who took part in the defence of Odessa during its siege by German forces.
