Medal for the Defense of Leningrad ‘Polished Sky’
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.07 mm in width, 37.79 mm in height, including the eyelet and weighs 17.2 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with perfect details and most gold plating still present. The medal shows relatively few small dings and contact marks and the he double layer suspension is correct for this medal. Its old and original ribbon is incorrectly folded (typical for these early medals) and its connection ring has been cut.
Special care was taken in producing these ‘proof coinage’ medals, featuring a polished sky. Only a small fraction of the Defense of Leningrad medals fall into this sub-variation.
