Medal for the Defense of Leningrad ‘Polished Sky’
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.10 mm in width, 37.80 mm in height, including the eyelet and weighs 17.8 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with perfect details and all of the original gold plating still present. The medal shows few contact marks only and the double layer suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal. Its connection ring has been cut.
Special care was taken in producing these ‘proof coinage’ medals, featuring a polished sky. Only a small fraction of the Defense of Leningrad medals fall into this sub-variation.
