Medal for the Defense of Leningrad ‘Polished Sky’
Made of plated brass. Measures 32.10 mm in width, 37.81 mm in height, including the eyelet and weighs 17.4 gram.
In nice condition with well defined details and medium overall wear. The medal shows several, but relatively few, dings and contact marks on both sides and a beautiful rainbow-like toning to the brass. The double layer suspension is time period to the medal and its connection ring has been cut.
Special care was taken in producing these ‘proof coinage’ medals, featuring a polished sky. Only a small fraction of the Defense of Leningrad medals fall into this sub-variation.
