Soviet Medal for Combat Merit with document
Awarded Posthumously to the Uzbek Private Sapar Khamirovich Babayarov (Сапар Хамирович Бабаяров)
Babayarov was killed in action in Afghanistan on the 6th day of the official entry of the Soviet troops
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.07 mm in diameter, 37.01 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 19.1 gram without its suspension.
In near mint condition with perfect details; even the higher laying parts on its obverse show no wear. Both sides of the medal are virtually free of dings and scratches and the enamel is all present and pristine. Its connection ring has not been cut and both sides show an appealing dark patina.
The booklet is in excellent condition too with all pages firmly attached. The document is dated 15 July 1980 and is numbered И 082824
The article (in the picture gallery) reads:
“Sapar Khamraevich BABAYAROV, private, dignitary instructor, born 7.6.1956 on the collective farm “Shark-Yulduzi” Dzharkurgan district Surkhandaryin SSR Uzbek.
He worked at the collective farm “Shark-Yulduzi”. Called to armed Soviet forces on 12.12.79 Dzhar Kurgan RVK.
In Rep. Afghanistan since Dec. 1979. During battle on 12/31/1979 he was mortally wounded.
For the courage shown in the battle he was awarded the Medal “For Military Merit” (posthumously).
BABAYAROV was buried at home.”
