For maintaining uninterrupted radio communication links from the Army operative department towards the headquarters of the rifle corps while being under enemy artillery and aerial bombardment

 

 

Medal for Combat Merit #137694

Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 36.47 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.22 mm in width and it weighs 21.2 gram.

The medal is in a nice, above average condition with most details present. The red lacquer is mostly present and shows the usual craquelé. Originally this early medal was handed out with a rectangular suspension with a red ribbon. She replaced it for a pentagon shaped suspension in accordance to the new 1943 regulations of wearing awards. This must have been done before the picture in the award document was taken since she was already wearing its current type suspension.

 

Medal for Bravery #780123

Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 41.99 mm in height including its eyelet, 37.18 mm in width and it weighs 26.3 gram.

The medal is in excellent condition with its details perfectly visible and most of the red lacquer still present. Its connection ring has not been cut and its steel suspension is time period to the medal.

 

Medal for the Victory over Germany

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 37.14 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.18 mm in width and it weighs 17.6 gram.

The medal is in a decent condition with medium to strong wear on the higher laying parts. Most details however are still visible and its brass suspension is time period to the medal.

 

Medal booklet

In excellent condition with all pages present and still attached to the cover. The booklet mentions both medals and is numbered 926194. The booklet contains a beautiful image of Sgt. Polovtseva wearing all 3 medals!

 

 

Citation for the Medal for Combat Merit #137694

Radiotelegraphist of the radio company – private first class POLOVTSEVA Maria Trifonovna is bestowed for excellent provision of radio communication signalling to the Army Headquarters on the most decisive directions.

She has perfectly mastered the equipment assigned for her operations. She perfectly executes the tasks of guiding our aircraft interceptors to the sectors of the enemy aircraft operations.

 

Citation for the Medal for Bravery  #780123

Senior radiotelegraphist of a RSB station, 83 separate signals regiment – sergeant POLOVTSEVA Maria Trifonovna is bestowed for steadfastness and bravery exhibited in the combat mission on 10 January 1944 near the village Lipovets, Vinnytsia region.

Disregarding her personal safety, she maintained uninterrupted radio communication links from the Army operative department towards the headquarters of the rifle corps, while under enemy artillery and aerial bombardment. Her effort assisted the successful execution of the combat missions by the units.
