Documented Order of Glory 3rd class #459659 

 

To private Alexej Konstantinovich Kupi/Krupij (Алексей Константинович Крупий)

 

Awarded for being the first to cross the Väike Emajõgi river in Estonia and rushing into the enemy trenches, eliminating 8 Fritzes by hand grenades and his personal firearm in the proces

 

 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 47.36 mm in width, 48.73 mm in height and weighs 23.4 gram without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This order is in excellent, above average condition with most details visible and an attractive dark patina on both sides. The enamel on both the banner and star is beautiful and without repairs and shows some contact marks only. Its connection ring has not been cut and it comes with its time period brass suspension.

The order comes with its award booklet with all pages present and firmly attached. The booklet is numbered Б 279211. This Order of Glory is the only award mentioned so technically this is a complete award group.

 

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:

During he forced crossing of the Väike Emajõgi river on 14 September 1944, he was the first to traverse across. He drew the other men to follow him by exhibiting example of courage and bravery. He rushed into the enemy trenches and eliminated 8 Fritzes by hand grenades and personal firearms fire.

CONCLUSION: For courageous conduct in the combat engagements, comrade KUPI deserves state award order “GLORY III CLASS”.”
