Documented Medal for Bravery
Awarded to Private Ivan Mikhailovich Bobrushko (Иван Михайлович Бобрушко)
For infiltrating the enemy’s rear on March 3, 1945, in Czechoslovakia. He attacked enemy soldiers inside a house where they had settled for a night’s rest. During this action, Comrade Bobrushko personally killed 3 German soldiers, captured 2, and delivered them to the battalion headquarters
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 42.0 mm in height including its eyelet, 37.0 mm in width and it weighs 28.2 grams without its suspension.
The medal is in excellent condition with its details perfectly visible and all enamel still present. Both sides show a medium dark patina and its connection ring has not been cut.
Its accompanying document is in equally nice condition with all pages present and firmly attached to the cover.
Please note that while the award was approved in 1945, it was not actually presented until much later. Such delayed presentations were common, often caused by bureaucratic backlog or the difficulty of locating servicemen after they changed units or demobilized.
Brief Description of the Personal Heroic Feat:
Comrade Bobrushko demonstrated courage and bravery in the battle for the village of Trostene [Czechoslovakia].
On March 3, 1945, along with a group of scouts, he infiltrated the enemy’s rear. He attacked enemy soldiers inside a house where they had settled for a night’s rest. During this action, Comrade Bobrushko personally killed 3 German soldiers, captured 2, and delivered them to the battalion headquarters.
Comrade Bobrushko is worthy of the government award: the Order of the Red Star.
