Awarded to Captain Alexander Petrovich Klochkov (Иван Павлович Назаров)
For tremendous successes in fighting off German attacks killing hundreds of enemy troops, several tanks, cannons and machine gun positions with his battalion
Order of the Red Star #222043
Made of silver and enamels. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw. Measures 48.45 mm in width, 46.84 mm in height and weighs 29.0 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
The order is in superb condition with stunning, problem free enamels. The higher laying parts on the center medallion show light wear only and maintained their details perfectly well. Its silver screwplate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.
Order of the Red Star #285777
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.60 mm in width, 45.67mm in height and weighs 26.2 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
The order is in in similar condition as the first one but shows a couple of minuscule scratches on the 9 o’clock ray; hardly noticeable with the naked eye. Comes with its well fitted screwplate and uncut screw.
Order Booklet with a protective cover
The group comes with its order booklet which contains an original picture of Capt. Klochkov. It mentions both Red Stars alone and is in great condition. It is accompanied by a not often seen protective cover.
Translation of the research to the Order of the Red Star #222043:
Comrade KLOCHKOV proved himself as a brave and steadfast officer in the fight for the Ptakhino during 30 June -11 July 1943. He exhibited his military skill in combat, where his battalion repelled 11 enemy attacks.
Comrade KLOCHKOVled his men by personal example and himself led his men into counter-attack and regained control of a hill.
Especially intense was the situation on 04 July 1943, when the Germans entered our trenches on the defended hill. Then comrade KLOCHKOV accompanied by 13 troops rushed into a counter-attack. The detachment attacked with hand grenade and small firearms fire managed to eliminate the opposing Fascist force in the trenches.
At this moment reinforcement arrived and the following enemy attack was successfully repelled. The hill is firmly held in our control. In he period from 30 June to 11 July 1943, his troops eliminated about 140 Fascist. The artillery units under Captain KLOCHKOV’s command destroyed 1 mortar and its crew, hit 2 enemy tanks, 1 cannon, suppressed 3 machine-gun and 4 anti-tank rifle positions.
The following war materiel was captured: 2 radio stations, 1 heavy machine-gun, 2 sniper rifles, 1 Soviet made machine-gun seized by the enemy on a different sector.
For exhibited courage and bravery for military skill and for holding the line, comrade KLOCHKOV deserves to be bestowed with order “RED STAR”.
Translation of the research to the Order of the Red Star #285777:
Comrade KLOCHKOV commanded a mobile assault detachment riding on tanks in the operation for capturing the town Nevel on 06 October 1943.
In this combat engagement, he proved himself as a brave and courageous officer capable of leading a combat operation in most daring circumstances. In the phase of fighting the town suburbs, he managed to seize and defend all the bridges and crossings. After that, the detachment under comrade KLOCHKOV cut off the retreat route for 2 Fascist caravans and frustrated the Germans effort to evacuate them. He captured up to 80 prisoners of war and eliminated up to 20 wheeled vehicles and the enemy troops riding them.
During 07-08 October 1943, the enemy attempted a counter attack. Comrade KLOCHKOV and his submachine gunners steadfastly defended the Leningradskoe highway.
For the exhibited courage, bravery, and effective leadership in battle, he deserves to be bestowed with order “RED STAR”.
