Деллерт Ксения Петровна

 

Awarded to Guards Senior Lieutenant of the Medical Service Ksenia Petrovna Dellert (Ксения Петровна Деллерт)

 

For showing unwavering dedication, even during enemy bombardments. She played a crucial role in performing 476 operations and worked tirelessly. Her efforts greatly improved surgical organization

 

 

The group consists of the following items:

 

Order of the Red Star #1232184

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 47.31 mm in height, 49.62 mm in width and weighs 30.6 grams without screwplate. The mint mark Monetni Dvor in two lines is located above its screwpost and the serial number at the bottom.

In excellent condition with problem free enamels and without repairs. Its details are mostly visible and both sides show a nice patina to the silver. Its screw is full length and the well fitted screwplate is time period to the order.

 

Medal for Combat Merit #102255

Made of solid silver. The medal itself measures 32.27 mm in diameter and 36.88 mm in height including the eyelet. It weighs 23.4 grams without its suspension and 22.7 grams with the suspension but without the nut. The eyelet is 5.23 mm in width and the suspension measures 25.75 mm in width at its narrowest point and 32.43 at its widest point.

The medal is in a nice, above average condition with several dings and scratches and light to medium overall wear. The details on the raised areas are mostly visible but the red lacquer is worn off. The brass suspension is original as is the brass screw, the nut, the plate holding the ribbon and the screw plate tightening it all up. Its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Medal for the Defence of Stalingrad

Made of brass. Measures 32.02 in diameter and weighs 17.4 grams without suspension.

The medal is in excellent condition with crisp details and some of the original luster still visible. The medal comes with a time period double layer steel suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.

  • Order booklet which shows the Order of the Red Star mentioned above and the Medal for Combat Merit. Unfortunately her first Red Star is not in this grouping
  • Document for the Medal for the Defence of Stalingrad
  • Document confirming Lt. Dellert was awarded 2 Red Stars, a Medal for Combat Merit and a Medal for the Defence of Stalingrad
  • Her Military ID showing a picture of her wearing both Red Stars
  • A birth certificate from the Lithuanian SSR

 

Brief summary of the citation for the Medal for Combat Merit:

She has been serving in the hospital since July 1941 as a senior operating nurse for over 19 months. Throughout her service, she has demonstrated herself as a passionate fighter for the cause of the party of Lenin and Stalin, giving all her strength to the fight against the enemy. Despite the enemy’s aerial bombardments, Dellert did not leave her post and continued to work in the operating room and at the surgical table. During the last Bayrak operation, she worked for days with the surgeon without sleep or rest, providing great help as the surgeon’s assistant. The wounded highly respect and deeply appreciate her attention, care, and sincere respect.

 

Brief summary of the citation for the Red Star:

Comrade Dellert, working as a senior operating nurse in the hospital, raised the work of the operating unit to a proper level. The most difficult operations were carried out with her direct involvement. Thanks to her extensive experience, she greatly contributed to the good organization of surgical work in the hospital. During the combat operations of the corps, Comrade Delpert worked not only in the operating room but also in the dressing room, and with her participation, 476 operations were performed in the hospital.

She is worthy of the Government Award – the Order of the Red Star.
