This group consists of the following items:

 

Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #190393

Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 46.37 mm in height, 43.84 mm in width and weighs 29.8 grams without its screwplate.

In superb condition with crisp details and an appealing patina on both sides. The gold base shows virtually no dings or scratches on either side and the order has never been disassembled. The red and white enamels are beautiful and free from repairs and show some small scratches and contact marks only. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with a well fitted silver screwplate.

 

Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class #216357

Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. Measures 44.77 mm in width, 47.60 in height and weighs 26.0 grams without its screwplate.

In equally excellent condition with few traces of wear to the silver base and a medium patina on both sides. The red and white enamels are well preserved without repairs and show a small chip on the very tips of the 3 and 9 o’clock rays only; barely noticeable with the naked eye. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period silver screwplate.

 

Order of the Red Star #474854

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 48.46 mm in width, 46.45 in height and weighs 25.3 grams without its screwplate.

The order is in excellent condition with few traces of wear to the silver base. The red enamels are very well preserved without flaking, repairs or chipping. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period silver screwplate.

 

Medal for Combat Merit 

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 37.21 mm in height (incl. the eyelet), 32.18 mm in width and weighs 19.3 gram without its suspension.

In great condition with few traces of wear. The red enamels filling the lettering is fully present without repairs and both sides show a dark patina to the silver. The medal comes with its time period brass suspension and old ribbon and its connection ring has not been cut.

The group is accompanied by its original order booklet which is in pristine condition and mentions the 4 awards above only.

Translation of the citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 1st class:

Major Golubyatnikov, S.M. during the last offensive battles, he is continuously located in units and subunits of the division. He conducts agitation and propaganda work with his personnel, aimed at the political support of the military orders of the command. The content of the conversations and reports conducted by comrade Golubyatnikov are intelligible to soldiers and officers, and the Bolshevik word that he carries to the Red Army masses is convincing. Major Golubyatnikov renders great assistance to the party political apparatus of the regiments in organizing agitation and propaganda work, provides daily assistance to grassroots agitators, editors of the “Combat Lists”. On the outskirts of the city of Berent, when the enemy infantry, supported by tanks and self-propelled guns, counterattacked the battle formations of the 552nd Infantry Regiment, Major Golubyatnikov, being in the battalion, by personal intervention, showing courage and courage, helped the command to repel the counterattack of superior enemy forces.

For showing courage and bravery, rendering great assistance to the party political apparatus of parts of the division deserves a government award-order: – “Order of the Patriotic War 1st class”

 


Translation of the citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class:

Comrade Golubyatnikov, during the period of preparation for the military operation to cross the Narva River and break through the enemy’s defenses, carried out a lot of agitation and propaganda work to instill hatred for the enemy in the personnel and mobilize fighters and commanders to carry out the assigned combat mission. Comrade Golubyatnikov’s speeches to the soldiers and commanders are intelligible and convincing, the content of the reports and conversations being held is linked to the life of the unit, which in many ways helped to properly target the personnel to perform the assigned combat missions. During the period of the combat operation, Comrade Golubyatnikov was in the 559th Infantry Regiment, where he did a particularly great job with the personnel at the initial positions in the trenches. In addition to propaganda work, Comrade Golubyatnikov provided great assistance in organizing the timely delivery of ammunition across the Narva River to the advancing 546th Infantry Regiment. Fulfilling the task of commanding the division, Comrade Golubyatnikov clearly and quickly organized the delivery of ammunition to the 546th Infantry Regiment, as a result of which the regiment had the opportunity to increase fire as it advanced. Comrade Golubyatnikov deserves the government award of the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class for the well-conducted advocacy and propaganda work and the fulfillment of the assignment of the division command, the manifestation of personal courage and initiative in battle.

 


Translation of the citation for the Order of the Red Star:

GOLUBYATNIKOV during the battles for the city of Novgorod, in the period from January 14 to January 21, 1944, followed in the battle formations of units of the 552nd Infantry Regiment. Carrying out work to bring the orders of the commanders, he carried the fiery Bolshevik word to the masses, which raised the combat activity of the regiment’s units. Comrade Golubyatnikov’s propaganda was combined with showing personal example. During the assault on the height of 35.0, Golubyatnikov personally captured 6 Nazis. In the area of battles for Chechulino, he explained the combat order of the regiment commander to the soldiers of the 1st rifle battalion, raised them to the attack and approached the village, took part in blocking the bunker and the enemy, which prevented progress which made it possible to successfully complete the task of capturing the village of Chechulino. Golubyatnikov is worthy of being awarded the Order of the RED STAR.
