Documented Soviet Group of an Order of Glory 2nd and 3rd class and two campaign medals

 

 

Awarded to Guards Jr. Sergeant Petr Fedorovich Petrukhnenko (Петр Федорович Петрухненко)

 

 

For eliminating 21 German soldiers and taking 3 prisoners!

 

 

 

The group consist of the following items:

 

Order of Glory 3rd class #355255

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.07 mm in width; 47.83 mm in height and weighs 21.7 gram.

This order is in decent condition with medium to strong wear on the higher laying parts. There are many small dings and scratches on both sides but many details are still visible. The enamel is all present without repairs but shows some superficial flaking. Its connection ring has been cut.

 

Order of Glory 2nd class #25435

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.28 mm in width, 47.84 mm in height (including its eyelet) and weighs 22.9 gram without its suspension.

This order is in nice condition with all most details present. All enamel is present without repairs and shows some minor flaking only. A fair amount of gold plating is still present and its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Medal for the Capture of Berlin

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.27 mm in width, 37.17 mm in height (including its eyelet) and weighs 16.9 gram without its suspension.

The medals is in excellent condition with crisp details and most gold plating still present. There are few dings and scratches on both sides.

 

Medal for the Victory over Germany

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.44 mm in width, 37.12 mm in height (including its eyelet) and weighs 17.1 gram without its suspension.

In excellent condition with all details present and medium wear to the higher laying parts. Most gold plating is still present.

 

The awards come with their booklet mentioning the awardees name and both serial numbers. An original picture of Srgt Petrukhnenko
is glued onto the first page and the document is numbered 433315.

 

 

Citation for the Order of Glory 3rd class:

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits

“Working as a sniper since 08 February 1945, he eliminated 12 German soldiers, one officer, and destroyed one enemy telescopic sight by means of his sniper rifle. He is a young sniper, who works hard on improving his sniper skills and keeps learning more and more in this field.

CONCLUSION: He deserves a state award –  order “GLORY III CLASS””

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits  

“On 16 April 1945, in the engagements for expansion of the bridgehead on the western bank of Oder river near the folwark Werder, Brandenburg province, he was in the first line and encouraging other soldiers rushed into a house occupied by Germans. With the fire of his submachine gun, he eliminated 8 German soldiers, took 3 prisoner, and captured a light machine-gun.

Conclusion: He deserves a state award –  order “GLORY II CLASS””
