Brief translation of the citation:
In the combat operation near the station Krasnovka, despite intensive enemy artillery and mortar fire, comrade KOSTIN N.I. kept bringing hot food and ammunitions to the troops on the forward line in timely manner. This effort allowed our troops to repel enemy attacks.
During a sudden enemy raid by tanks and motorised infantry on the deployment area of our unit near the village Novo-Ivanovka, comrade KOSTIN exhibited courage and bravery under intensive enemy automatic and mortar fire. He didn’t abandon the position in the village until after all the horses, transportation, and all hand tools were saved from the enemy.
Comrade KOSTIN deserves medal “FOR COMBAT MERITS”.
