Distinguished MOOP Employee Badge #7794
This MOOP badge is made of solid silver, gilt and enamels. It measures 44.22 mm in height, 27.38 mm in width and weighs 17.9 gram without its screwplate. Its serial number and Moscow Mint mark can be found on its reverse.
In nice condition with traces of wear. Its details are crisp and a fair amount of gold plating is still present. The enamels on the ribbon show some small internal cracks as well as a repair on the 7 o’clock part. This repair is done professionally and hardly visible. The enamels at the background, behind the hammer and sickle and the sword, are flawless and its screw has not been shortened. The badge comes with it original screwplate.
Rare badge
The MVD was redesignated the Ministry for the Preservation of Public Order (MOOP= Министерство охраны общественного порядка) in 1962 until it was renamed MVD again in 1968. It therefore only existed for a relatively brief period which explains why these MOOP badges are much harder to find than the late MVD badges.
