Awarded to Jr. Lieutenant Ivan Mikhailovich Demidenko (Иван Михайлович Демиденко)
For excellent military skills and the destruction of 2 heavy enemy machine-guns and up to 50 enemy troops with his platoon
The group consists of the following items:
Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class #282340
Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 48.39 mm in height, 46.07 mm in width and weighs 27.1 gram without its screwplate.
In excellent, well above average condition with crisp details and light overall wear. The red and white enamels are absolutely stunning without repairs and show some minor contact marks only. The screw of the order has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.
Medal for Combat Merit
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 37.29 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.27 mm in width and weighs 19.5 gram without its suspension.
In pristine condition with crisp details and flawless enamels. Both sides show nice toning to the silver and its connection ring has not been cut. The medal comes with its time period brass suspension and old ribbon
Order Booklet with all awards above mentioned
In problem free condition with all pages present and firmly attached. The document is numbered ‘A No 628985’ and mentions these two awards only.
Research of the Order of the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd class:
“Comrade DEMIDENKO exhibited military skill in commanding his platoon during the combat engagements, while defending against the German attacks in the town Huși on 25 August 1944 and the village Carligatii on 29 August 1944 [both Romania]. His effort resulted in three failed enemy attacks and destruction of 2 heavy enemy machine-guns and up to 50 enemy troops.
Comrade DEMIDENKO deserves state award – order “PATRIOTIC WAR II CLASS””
