Badge of the Society of Friends of the Air Fleet of the North-Western Region (ODVF)
This badge is made of solid silver and enamels. The badge measures 31.80 mm in height and 36.30 mm in width and weighs 9.4 gram without its screwplate. Both the badge as the screwplate show several silver hallmarks.
The badge is in excellent, well above average condition with crisp details and light wear only. The red and blue enamel show some minor flaking and dings but is essentially problem free and well preserved. The details of the higher laying parts like those of the plane are all crisp and perfectly visible. The badge includes its well fitted screwplate and time period screwplate.
Nice early soviet piece. Not easy to find in this condition
The Society of Friends of the Air Fleet (ODVF) was the first mass public organization in the USSR to promote the development of the Air Fleet and was formed on March 8, 1923. The ATSF conducted gatherings of gliders, built military and civil aircraft, airfields and take-off sites. A lot of work was done to promote the achievements of aviation. In May 1925, the ODVF and the Society of Friends of Chemical Defense and Chemical Industry merged into one Society; AVIAHIM of the USSR.
