Description
Distinguished MOOP Employee Badge
Made of solid silver, gilt and enamels. It measures 43.39 mm in height, 27.47 mm in width and weighs 18.8 gram without its screwplate. Its serial number and Moscow Mint mark can be found on its reverse.
In excellent condition with its details perfectly crisp and a most of the original gilding is still present. The enamels are perfectly preserved on both the banner and the surface behind the hammer and sickle. Both sides show an appealing patina to the silver and the tip of the sword is bent downwards. The badge comes with its well fitted screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.
Rare and in great condition
The MVD was redesignated the Ministry for the Preservation of Public Order (MOOP= Министерство охраны общественного порядка) in 1962 until it was renamed MVD again in 1968. It therefore only existed for a relatively brief period which explains why these MOOP badges are much harder to find than the late MVD badges.
