Soviet Honored Railway Employee badge #8504
Silver variation 1938-1941
Made of solid silver and enamels. Riveted two-piece construction. Measures 44.97 mm in height; 33.02 mm in width at its widest point and weighs 17.9 gram without its screwplate. On the reverse the stamped serial number #8504 and two silver marks are visible. The well fitted screwplate and protective, middle plate are authentic to the badge. The screw is full length and there have been no repairs.
This Soviet Honored Railway Employee badge is in excellent condition with perfect details. Even the details of the higher laying parts of the train are very well defined. There are only two small enamel chips on the top red banner; not penetrating the silver. The white enamels and the enamels on the traffic light are flawless and all gold plating on the wheat sheaf is present.
This badge was the highest award to railroad employees, equivalent of “Honored” titles in other fields. Like the other “honorary badges”; the early type of this decoration was made in silver; whereas much more common post-1941 issues were in silver-plated or nickel-plated brass.
