Variation 2 with a raised rim on its obverse and with a knob on the handle of the hammer and sickle
Made of solid silver. It measures 32.32 mm in diameter and 2.85 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.41 mm including its eyelet and it weighs 22.1 grams without its suspension.
In excellent, well above average condition with its details still perfectly visible and an appealing medium patina to the silver. Both sides show relatively few dings and scratches and light overall wear. Its silver connection ring has not been cut and the double layer steel suspension and its ribbon are time period to the medal. The medal comes with an additional new ribbon when requested.
Increasingly difficult to find
The Medal “To a Partisan of the Patriotic War” (Russian: Медаль Партизану Отечественной войны) was a World War II Soviet award established in two classes. This was done on February 2, 1943, by decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. It recognised the courage of the partisans in their struggle to free the Soviet Motherland behind enemy lines. Its statute was amended by a further decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1947.
