Medal for Combat Merit #2296957
Made of solid silver. The medal for Combat Merit measures 32.52 mm in diameter and 2.35 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.88 mm including the eyelet and it weighs 18.4 grams without its suspension.
In great condition with its details all visible and crisp. Both sides of the medal show several small dings and scratches but none distracting from the overall appeal of the medal. Almost all of the lacquer is still present and both sides show a medium patina to the silver. The medal comes with a time period double layer steel suspension and original ribbon which is well protected with a plastic cover. The connection ring between the medal and the suspension has not been cut.
Most likely awarded during the 1st half of 1945 so with good research potential
This military medal awarded for “combat action resulting in a military success”; “courageous defence of the state borders”; or “successful military and political training and preparation”. Also awarded for 10 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
