Awarded to Colonel Demyan Ignatievich Gronsky (Демьяч Игнатьевич Гронский)
Col. Gronsky received his very low numbered Bravery Medal for action at Khalkhin Gol and his Red Star for effectively organizing and managed the training of communication specialists
The group consists of the following items:
Order of Lenin #140661
Made of solid gold, platinum and enamels. Measures 43.23 mm in height including its eyelet, 38.61 mm in width and weighs 32.8 grams without its suspension. The mint mark and the stamped serial number are located on its reverse.
In great condition with well preserved details and without repairs. Both the red and grey enamels are flawless without scratches or flaking. Its reverse is in equally nice condition with some small dings only. The order comes with its double layer and time period steel suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.
Order of the Red Banner #258565
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.52 mm in height, 37.02 mm in width and weighs 24.9 grams without its suspension. The mint mark Monetni Dvor is located on the bottom of its reverse.
The order is in excellent condition with crisp details and well preserved enamels with some minor contact marks . Some of the gold plating is still present and the award comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and uncut connection ring.
Order of the Red Banner #456076
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 44.91 mm in height, 36.47 mm in width and weighs 24.8 grams without its suspension. The mint mark Monetni Dvor is located on the bottom of its reverse.
In near mint condition with flawless enamels and full gold plating. Both sides show a medium patina and the order comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and uncut connection ring.
Order of the Red Star #963080
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 49.89 mm in width, 48.22 mm in height and weighs 32.4 grams. The mint mark Monetni Dvor is located above and the serial number below the screwpost.
This order is in excellent condition with well preserved enamels and a medium patina to the silver. Both the silver base and the enamels show few small dings and contact marks and the raised parts on its obverse show light wear with most details crisp. The nut is time period to the order and its screw has not been shortened.
Order of the Red Star #1635332
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.95 mm in height, 48.21 mm in width and weighs 30.3 grams. The mint mark Monetni Dvor is located above and the serial number below the screwpost.
In equal condition as the previous Red Star. The nut is time period to the order and its screw has not been shortened.
Medal for Bravery #3550
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 37.21 mm in diameter, 41.95 mm in height and weighs 30.8 grams without its suspension.
In great condition with crisp details and all of the original enamels filling the lettering present. Its old connection ring (original to the old rectangular suspension) has not been cut and the medal comes with an early double layer steel suspension. Some green polish residue is visible on its obverse which can easily be removed.
Order booklet
The family of the awardee decided to keep the order booklet when selling the awards. We do however received images of it which can be found in the picture galleries. All awards mentioned in the booklet are in this grouping
Brief specific statement of personal military feat or merits (for his Red Star):
In the active army since May 1944. Last position in the Red Army: Chief of Communications of the 85th Rifle Corps. As Commander of the 2nd Reserve Signal Regiment and in the Polish Army – since May 26, 1944. During this time, he successfully organized and managed the training of specialists for the formed communication units. The regiment commanded by Comrade Gronsky is a healthy and well-organized entity among the Front-line communication units. Through his work in the Polish Army for 8 months, Comrade Gronsky proved himself to be a diligent, qualified, and efficient officer. He continues to work energetically to further improve the training of communication specialists. Worthy of being awarded the Order of the Red Star.
