Voenkomat Variation
Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.06 mm in width, 37.14 mm in height, including the eyelet and it weighs 16.1 grams without its suspension.
In near mint condition with perfect details and virtually all of the original gold plating still present. Even the higher laying parts of the medal on both sides show no wear. It comes with its time period suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.
‘Voenkomat variation’ medals are post-war issues that were awarded by a Voenkomat (Military Commissariat) at the veteran’s place of residence. The reasons for the late issue could vary but in most instances, the Voenkomat medals were “catch-up” awards to those who had taken part in the battle and then somehow overlooked by the awarding authorities during WW2 and in the immediate post-war years.
Awarded to Soviet service personnel who took part in the liberation of Belgrade between 29 September and 22 October 1944.
