Scarcer than the later variation
Made of solid silver. It measures 32.10 mm in diameter and 2.76 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.42 mm (including the eyelet) and it weighs 22.0 grams without its suspension.
This early medal is in a nice, about average condition with most details still visible. Both sides show several dings and scratches and medium overall wear. The silver connection ring has not been cut and the double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.
Scarce variation
The Medal “To a Partisan of the Patriotic War” (Russian: Медаль Партизану Отечественной войны) was a World War II Soviet award established in two classes. This was done on February 2, 1943, by decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. It recognised the courage of the partisans in their struggle to free the Soviet Motherland behind enemy lines. Its statute was amended by a further decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1947.
