Jubilee Medal for 30 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War with document
Variation awarded to Foreigners without text between the XXX and the edge on top of its reverse
Only a few thousand of these were issued
Awarded to Lt. General George Lefter (Gheorghe Theodor Lefter)
Made of brass. Measures 36.08 mm in diameter, 40.98 mm in height including the eyelet and weighs 23.6 grams without its suspension.These medals differ from the ones awarded to Soviet citizend by the text above the ‘XXX’ which is missing.
This medal is in superb, near mint condition with all details crisp and full luster present on both sides. It comes with its time period suspension and ribbon.
Its accompanying document is dated 6 May 1975 named to George Lefter. Some information about him can be read below:
Gen. Lt., Lefter Gheorghe Theodor, 1917-1993,
Graduated from Royal Military Academy in 1940, as artillery officer, and one of the USSR high comand military academies, probably Frunze, in 1954 as Gen. Mj. Later he was appointed Cheif of Staff of Artillery Comand, Chief Comander of the 2 artillery division, and Section Chief of Staff.
On 1 of April 1959 he was appointed by decree C.L. 00918/1959 of the Military Chief of Staf, Chief Dierector of the newly created Direction of Science and Scientific Reasearch, with two sections: history and archives. His name appears in two papers: Army, espionage and economy in Romania 1945-1989, and Romania and the Warsaw Pact 1955-1989.
