Soviet Medal for the Defense of Odessa Variation 1
Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.18 mm in width, 37.01 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 16.0 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent, well above average condition with light overall wear. The details of the soldier and sailor are well preserved and even the lighthouse is clearly visible. There are several small dings and scratches on both sides but none detract from the overall appeal from the medal. The reverse clearly shows the edges of the lettering and the hammer & sickle. The double layer suspension is time period to the medal and its connection ring has not been cut.
Increasingly hard to find
This medal was awarded to all participants in the defence of Odessa. Both to soldiers and civilians, who took part in the defence of Odessa during its siege by German forces.
