Description
Medal for Combat Merit #580653
Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 32.26 mm in diameter and 2.25 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 36.47 mm including the eyelet and it weighs 17.5 grams without its suspension.
In a nice, above average condition with all details present and light to medium overall wear. There are several small dings and scratches but most of the original red lacquer is still present although covered with some protective layer of epoxy. Its connection ring has not been cut and the medal comes with its time period double layer suspension and old ribbon. Its eyelet slightly bent but still firmly attached to the medal.
Most likely awarded during the last months of 1943 so with nice research potential
This military medal awarded for “combat action resulting in a military success”; “courageous defence of the state borders”; or “successful military and political training and preparation”. Also awarded for 10 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
