Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus
Variation 1 with a separately soldered eyelet
Made of brass. The medal measures 32.13 mm in diameter, 37.13 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.9 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with light overall wear and much of the original luster present. There are relatively few dings and scratches on either sides and its details are still crisp. The double layer steel suspension is typical for these early Caucasus medals and shows the NKMP (НКМП) stamp of the “People’s Commissariat of Local Industry” (Mondvor Narod).
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of the Caucasus region during WW2 between July 1942 and 9 October 1943.
