Medal for Combat Merit #1339499
Made of solid silver. The medal for Combat Merit measures 32.10 mm in diameter and 2.13 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.42 mm including the eyelet and it weighs 16.6 grams without its suspension.
In nice condition with its details mostly visible and crisp. Both sides of the medal show several small dings and scratches and about half of the red lacquer is mostly present. It comes with its time period brass suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.
Most likely awarded the second half of 1944 so with good research potential
This military medal awarded for “combat action resulting in a military success”; “courageous defence of the state borders”; or “successful military and political training and preparation”. Also awarded for 10 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
