Awarded to warrant officer Afanasij Fomich Skorik (Афанасий Фомич Скорик) on the battleship ‘October Revolution’
For extinguishing the fire and stopping the flooding after the ship was hit by 3 enemy bombs and for relocating captured German submarines
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 26.7 grams without its screwplate and measures 45.66 mm in width and 47.85 mm in height.
This original order of the Patriotic War 2nd class is in excellent condition with its details crisp. The enamels show only minor contact marks but no flaking or repairs. It comes with its original, time period screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.
Brief description of his feat of arms or achievements:
“Warrant officer SKORIK was the commander of the damage control party in the first compartment. He quickly extinguished the fire and stopped flooding after the ship’s bow was hit by 3 enemy bombs. His fearless conduct and excellent skills were en example to the other members of the crew. During the Leningrad blockade, the battleship was under systematic enemy barrages. Despite that, he reliably delivered all the required material for the repair works. SKORIK, as one of the most experiences boatswains, worked for a month at the water crossing of the 48 army in December 1941. He excellently performed the tasks of transporting the equipment. In 1945, he participated in relocation of the captured German submarines from Danzig to Liepāja and received good evaluation for his work. He deserves a state award – order “PATRIOITC WAR II CLASS”.”
