Awarded to Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Private Konstantin Alekseevich Mamedov (Константин Алексеевич Мамедов)
For being the first to rush into the enemy trenches, drawing the other fighters to follow him and destroying an enemy light machine-gun emplacement and 3 Hitlerites
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.17 mm in width, 48.98 mm in height and weighs 22.3 gram without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.
In excellent, above average condition with most details present. Much gold plating is still and visible partly covered by an appealing layer of patina. The enamels are fully present -both on the top star as the banner- and have some small dings and minor flaking around the edges of the lettering only. The silver base on both sides show several contact marks and a medium dark toning. The order comes with its time period double layer steel suspension and its connection ring has not been cut.
Low numbered Order of Glory to a Full Cavalier in great condition. Rare as such!

“Comrade MAMEDOV is an experienced scout of the reconnaissance, courageous and bold. In the combat engagement near Georgievsky monastery on 09 May 1944, he participated in an infantry assault and was the first one to raise into the attack, drawing the other fighters to follow him. Having rushed the enemy trenches, he employed his hand grenades and sub-machine gun destroying an enemy light machine-gun emplacement and 3 Hitlerites. His effort ensured the success of this combat engagement.
He deserves state award – order “RED STAR”.”

Short biography of Mamedov:
Mamedov, Konstantin Alekseevich – commander of the reconnaissance department of the 696th rifle regiment (383rd rifle division, 33rd army, 1st Belorussian front), junior sergeant – at the time of submission to the award of the Order of Glory 1st class.
Born on November 25, 1923 in the city of Georgievsk, Stavropol Territory, into a working class family. Russian. In 1942, without completing the tenth grade, he entered a military school.
In the summer of 1942, as part of a cadet battalion, without completing his studies, he was baptized by fire near Rostov-on-Don. He was enlisted in the 383rd Infantry Division, in which he went through the whole war. He fought in the North Caucasus, in battles near Novorossiysk.
On November 7, 1943, as part of a division, he took part in the crossing of the Kerch Strait and the landing of troops near Kerch. The Red Army soldier Mamedov earned the first two Orders of Glory in the battles for the liberation of Crimea.
On the night of December 5, 1943, near the village of Bulganak (Crimea), the Red Army soldier Mamedov with a group of sappers made a passage through a minefield and mined barbed wire. When the sappers, discovered by the enemy, retreated to their positions, Mamedov remained in place and at the right time blew up the barriers, clearing the way for the advancing infantry.

On May 9, 1944, the 696th Rifle Regiment led an offensive in the Balaklava area. In the battle at the St. George Monastery, the Red Army soldier Mamedov, being in a chain of riflemen, was the first to attack and carried away the troops. Bursting into the enemy’s trench, a grenade destroyed a machine gun and 3 Nazis.

In January 1945, the 383rd Miners’ Rifle Division was included in the 33rd Army of the 1st Belorussian Front. As part of this army, the division fought in Poland and Germany, crossed the Oder River.
On February 10, 1945, junior sergeant Mamedov with a group of scouts broke through the encirclement in the area of the city of Furstenberg (Germany), which allowed the rifle battalion to operate successfully, In the battle, 32 Nazis were exterminated.
In the last, Berlin operation, junior sergeant Mamedov with his scouts walked ahead of the regiment’s battle formations. In the area of the settlement of Lossow (south of the city of Frankfurt-am-Oder), the fighters reconnoitered all the firing points and obstacles. In just three days of fighting on April 16-18, Mamedov delivered 7 prisoners and valuable information to the unit.
By degree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on May 15, 1946, for exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the Nazi invaders, junior sergeant Mamedov Konstantin Alekseevich was awarded the Order of Glory, 1st degree (No, 122), Became a full Knight of the Order of Glory.
In 1947 he was demobilized. He returned to his homeland. In the same year he left for the Urals, He worked at mine No. 4-6 of the Kopeiskugol trust. Here he graduated from an evening school and a mining college. Member of the CPSU since 1950. In 1957 he graduated from the Higher Engineering Courses at the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute. In recent years he lived in the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Territory and died April 5th, 1983.
