Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.58 mm in width, 47.83 mm in height and weighs 23.56 gram without suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.
This order is in a nice, vintage condition with medium overall wear although most details are still visible. The red enamels on the top star and lower banner are fully present and without repairs and show some minor contact marks only. Its connection ring has been cut and its double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits
“During the battle for the railway line west of the city of Breslau on 04/04/1945, the Germans fired hurricanely from a bunker and hindered the progress. Comrade Balabanov with one soldier skilfully pushed close to the bunker and threw grenades at it; the Germans rushed to flee in panic, but Comrade Balabanov skillfully cut off their escape route, and thirty German soldiers were captured. In the battle on 04/04/1945 for the village of Cosel, on the outskirts of the city of Breslau, comrade Balabanov boldly burst ahead of the tanks, dragging the fighters with him, he was the first to break into a house where he annihilated 7 German soldiers with submachine-gun fire. The occupied line was secured until the main forces arrived.
Private Balabanov deserves a governmental award for his skillful actions and displayed courage: the Order of the “Red Banner”.”
