Complete Group of a Soviet Order of the Red Star, two Bravery Medals and campaign medals
Awarded to Sr. Sergeant Sergej Vasilievich Romanitsky (Сергей Васильевич Романицкий)
For fighting at KURSK and HALBE. He repelled several enemy counter-attacks, suppressed enemy mortar positions, eliminated dozens of enemy infantry and being the first to spot the German reconnaissance detachment and shooting one of them by the fire of his personal firearms
The group consists of the following items:
Order of the Red Star #551776
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.73 mm in width, 47.22 mm in height and weighs 27.6 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
The order is in excellent condition with light wear on the center medallion only. The enamels beautiful and problem free without repairs and small contact marks only. The screw has not been shortened and the order comes with a well fitted and correct screwplate.
Medal for Bravery #354839
Made of solid silver. Measures 37.32 mm in width, 42.27 mm in height and weighs 27.3 gram.
The medal is in worn condition with several dings and scratches on both sides. Most details however are still visible and some of the red lacquer on the lettering at its bottom is still present. The medal is attached to the brass suspension bar by a cut connection ring.
Medal for Bravery #2582129
Made of solid silver. Measures 37.33 mm in width, 42.59 mm in height and weighs 28.4 gram.
The medal is in nice condition with light medium wear on the higher laying parts like the tank. Most details are still crisp and most of the red lacquer filling the lettering is still present. The medal is attached to the brass suspension bar by its uncut connection ring.
Medal for the Capture of Berlin
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.06 mm in diameter, 37.42 mm in height and weighs 17.2 gram.
The medal is in excellent condition with light to medium overall wear. The details on the higher laying parts are perfectly visible and a fair amount of gold plating is still present.
Medal for the Victory over Germany
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.15 mm in diameter, 36.55 mm in height and weighs 16.9 gram.
The medal is in decent condition with medium wear on the higher laying parts and several small dings and scratches on both sides.Most of the gold plating on its obverse is worn off but it reverse still maintained much of it.
Nice and complete group awarded for the Halbe and Kursk!
Translation of the citation for the Order of the Red Star:
“Deputy mortar platoon commander. Sergeant.
Decree #55/n issued by 280 rifle division on 25.10.1943
He acted bravely and decisively in the combat engagements for the village Shapovalovka (Konotop district, Summy region) during 7-8 September 1943. The mortar platoon under comrade ROMANITSKY command repelled 6 enemy counter-attacks, set ablaze observation post used by a German artillery spotter, and suppressed 4 enemy mortar positions. In the battle for the village Fostiki (Borznya district, Chernigov region) on 14 September 1943, he several shifted his firing positions despite intensive enemy artillery barrage. He and his unit eliminated up to a platoon of the enemy infantry and a heavy machine-gun with its crew. He deserves a state award – order “RED STAR”

Squad commander of the 1st mortar company Sergeant ROMANITSKY Sergej Vasilievich is bestowed for the combat engagements during 05-10 July 1943 for the village Solozhonki, Trosnyansky district, Kursk region.
His 82mm mortar crew repelled 3 enemy attacks eliminating in the process 16 German troops.
Born 1897, Ukrainian, none party member,
Drafted to RKKS by Dikan’ commissariat, Poltava region.

Sub-machine gunners squad commander sr.Sergeant ROMANITSKY Sergej Vasilievich is bestowed for the battles near the village Schönweide on 01 May 1945, in which he exhibited courage and bravery. He was the first to spot the German reconnaissance detachment and shot one of them by the fire of his personal firearms.
