For dismantling and shipping a huge number of machinery from Germany with his platoon
Since this Red Star was Sgt. Glavak’s only numbered award, it can be considered to be a complete documented group
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.98 mm in width, 46.49 mm in height and weighs 30.3 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
This order is in excellent condition with most details visible. The higher laying parts like the soldier show light to medium wear and both sides show a nice patina to the silver. The beautiful wine red enamels are without damage or repairs and show minor contact marks only. The screwplate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.
The order comes with its award booklet which is in excellent condition with all pages firmly attached to the cover. This Red Star is the only award mentioned (as in the record card).
Brief translation of the citation:
“At the dismantling of the factories and the shipment of dismantled equipment to the railroad cars, Sergeant Glavak, leading his platoon, showed a pattern of organization and labor valor.
With his platoon, Sergeant Gladak dismantled and shipped 43 presses of various designations at the factories: East-Hut (Oberschlesische Hüttenwerke “Osthütte” GmbH), Count Renard (Hard coal mine “Union Graf Renard” in Chelm / Upper Silesia), Ferum (“Aktiengesellschaft Ferrum”, Kattowitz), and Carl Wolf (Second branch “Carl Wolf K.G.” in Jauer / Silesia), of which 13 were of great power, which amounted to 77 wagons of equipment. Dismantled and shipped 119 metal-cutting machines for different purposes, which amounted to 49 wagons.
The platoon of Sergeant Glavak completed its task ahead of schedule; instead of the established 30 days, it took at the average 14 days – 16 days earlier. The daily target was overfulfilled systematically at 300-400%.
For the good organization and demonstrated labor feat and active personal participation in the work, Sergeant Glavak deserves the government award the Order of the Red Star.”
