To Master Sergeant Makar Trofimovich Satull (Макар Трофимович Сатулл)
Awarded for exhibiting courage and bravery in providing the fighting troops in the Leningrad region with food and ammunitions. Even when wounded he finished his duties
Made of solid silver and lacquer. The medal itself measures 32.17 mm in diameter and 36.45 mm in height including the eyelet. It weighs 21.4 gram without its suspension and 29.9 gram with the suspension but without the nut. The eyelet is 5.14 mm in width and the suspension measures 25.12 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.24 at its widest point.
The medal is in a nice, above average condition with several dings and scratches and medium overall wear. A good amount details are still visible and most of the red lacquer is present although covered with a layer of dirt. The silver suspension is original as is the brass screw, the nut, the plate holding the ribbon and the screw plate tightening it all up. At first glance the connection ring appears to have been cut and re-soldered but on close inspection it is clearly visible it was never cut. For some reason tin solder was added at a later period, possibly because the awardee was afraid it would not hold. On request we can remove this later added residue but since it was most likely done by the awardee we advice to leave it the way it is.

Quartermaster of the headquarters battery Master Sergeant SATULL Makar Trofimovich is bestowed for the engagements taking place since 12 January 1943 near the village Tortolovo, Mga district, Leningrad region. He exhibited courage and bravery in providing the fighting troops on the forwards positions with food and ammunitions.
After the beginning of the combat actions, the artillery regiment advanced its command post and the forwards observation post into the fighting sector of the 73 naval infantry brigade, close to the supported rifle battalion. During the battle, all the access routes to the forward posts were under the enemy artillery, mortar, and machine-gun fire. Comrade SATULL, disregarding the life threat, personally delivered the supplies on every day of the battle. 2-3 times a day, he delivered the supplies directly to the trenches, which ensured proper nutritions and ability of the troops to deliver effective fire against the enemy.
Master Sergeant SATULL with his example of courage and bravery inspired the men of his unit.
While being wounded and receiving first aide, he nonetheless was making sure the men and the horses were moved out the filed of enemy fire into cover. Only after these lifesaving actions were taken, he agreed to be transported to the mobile field hospital.
