Awarded to Private Semyon Filippovich Zozulya (Семен Филиппович Зозуля)

Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 32.18 mm in diameter and 2.26 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.28 mm including the eyelet and it weighs 18.6 gram without its suspension.
The medal for Combat Merit is in decent but worn condition. The red lacquer filling the lettering ‘CCCP’ is gone and some of the higher laying details are worn off. Its connection ring has been cut and the medal comes with its time period double layer suspension and old ribbon.

Medal for Combat Merit nr. 640666 was awarded on November 28, 1943 to Private Semyon Filippovich Zozulya, wagon driver with the regimental medical aid station of the 966th Artillery Regiment, 383rd Rifle Division, 16th Rifle Corps, 56th Army, North Caucasus Front. Between September 16 and October 9, 1943, during the liberation of the Kuban and Taman peninsulas, Zozulya transported wounded troops from the batteries’ firing positions to the aid station under enemy artillery and mortar fire, saving the lives of these men. Zozulya was born in 1899 and served in the army from 1941 to 1945. He was awarded a second Combat Merit Medal in June 1945.
