Order of the October Revolution
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. It measures 43.75 mm in height, 43.26 mm in width and weighs 31.2 gram without its suspension. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the centre of the reverse. This early variation with 4 rivets is made out of three parts; the base piece, the pentagon centre piece showing the Aurora cruiser and the gold hammer and sickle.
This original order is in excellent condition with even the higher laying details on the cruiser perfectly visible. The enamels are beautiful and problem free apart from a small superficial chip on the top of the banner. The gold hammer and sickle is original to the order and its connection ring has not been cut.
The award comes with its original booklet in excellent condition mentioning this Order of the October Revolution only. The booklet is numbered ‘Ж 643210’.
Order of the Red Banner of Labor
Made of solid silver and enamels. It measures 47.76 mm in height, 37.00 mm in width and weighs 35.7 gram without its suspension. The mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the centre of the reverse and the serial number at its bottom.
In excellent condition with pristine enamels and crisp details. Most of the gold plating is still present and covered by a layer of dark patina. The suspension and ribbon are time period to the award and its connection ring has not been cut.
It comes with its original booklet in excellent condition mentioning this order only. The booklet is numbered ‘E 019252’.
Short biography of Tamara Vasilievna Bychenok
She was born on June 6, 1929 in the city of Kiev, Ukrainian SSR in a large family. Member of the CPSU. During the war, at the age of 16, she began working at the Smirnov-Lastochkin garment factory (now it does not exist) and worked there for 46 years.
Since 1945 in economic, social and political work. In 1945-1991 as a seamstress in the Kiev sewing factory named after Smirnov-Lastochkin. Run by the Ministry of Light Industry of the Ukrainian SSR and the developer of a new technological operation in sewing.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 9 1966, she was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle gold medal for outstanding services in fulfilling of the tasks of the seven-year plan and achieving high technical and economic indicators in the production of knitwear, footwear, garments and other light industry products.
In 1966 she graduated from an evening school, and then from the Kiev Institute of Light Industry. However, after graduation, she continued to work at the factory as a seamstress-minder.
She was elected a member of the Presidium and Secretary of the Ukrainian Republican Council of Trade Unions on a voluntary basis (1978), a delegate to the XXII (1961) and XXIV (1971) Congresses of the CPSU, XXV Congress of the Communist Party of Ukraine (1976).
Bychenok lived in the city of Kiev (Ukraine) and died on September 18, 2016.
She was awarded the Orders of Lenin (06/09/1966), the October Revolution (04/05/1971), the Red Banner of Labor (03/07/1960), Friendship of Peoples (03/17/1981) and medals.
