For accomplishments bombing both ground and naval forces in the Danzig area. In total Romanov made dozens of successful combat missions inflicting huge damages to the enemy forces
Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.94 mm in height, 43.15 mm in width and weighs 31.0 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
In excellent condition with some minor contact marks only. The details are crisp and both the white and red enamels are problem free. Even the higher laying parts like the hammer and sickle show little wear. Its well fitted screwpate is time period to the order and the screw has been shortened a bit for more comfortable wear.

Guards Jr. Lt. ROMANOV has participated in the war since 20.08.1944 on 1st and 2nd Belorussian fronts. He acts bravely and decisively in combat, exhibits examples of courage and heroism. He executes his combat missions with good and excellent scores. He is a leader of a group of 4 IL-2 aircrafts in the combat missions and has had no combat losses in the group. He can fly in adverse meteorological conditions. He was bestowed with order “Red Star” for successful execution of 11 combat missions on 2 Belorussian front. For 32 combat missions, he was recommended for his second award – order “Patriotic war I class”. After being recommended for his second award, he conducted further 24 successful combat missions. He participated in capturing of the towns Osowiec and Ostroleka, Eastern Prussia and Pomerania.
In adverse weather conditions on 27.02.1945 near Bubliec, he conducted a mission against a field artillery battery, which inhibited advance of our ground troops. Guards Jr. Lt. ROMANOV suppressed the field artillery battery by his precise bomb strike and cannon and machine-gun fire. As the consequence of his successful strike, our troops could advance and capture the settlement Ciehandorf. He especially distinguished himself in the destruction of the Danzig enemy pocket.
In the strike against the enemy warships and barges in the Gdynia bay on 23.03.1945, Guards Jr. Lt. ROMANOV scored a direct hit and ignited a large fire on a self-propelled barge loaded with armoured vehicles and troops.
The mission against the enemy armament depots located 2km north of Oksheft on 27.03.1945 was a success (results were corroborated by the air navigation centre): 2 large fires were ignited and 3 big explosions caused.
In total during the Patriotic war, Guards Jr. Lt. ROMANOV has made 56 combat sorties.
For exemplary execution of the combat missions, for courage and persistence in the struggle against the German invaders, for 24 successful combat missions and the damage inflicted upon the enemy, Guards Jr. Lt. ROMANOV deserves state award order “RED BANNER”.
