Description
Soviet Medal for Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945
Variation 3 (Voenkomat)
Made of Brass. Measures 32.13 mm in width, 37.03 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.6 gram without its suspension.
This late medal for Valiant Labor is excellent condition with all details crisp and a light overall wear only. Almost all plating is still present and its suspension is time period to the medal.
This medal is one of the post-war issues that were awarded by a Voenkomat (Military Commissariat) at the veteran’s place of residence. The reasons for the late issue could vary but in most instances, the Voenkomat medals were “catch-up” awards to those who had taken part in the battle and then somehow overlooked by the awarding authorities during WW2 and in the immediate post-war years.
Awarded to all Soviet industrial workers for a term of one year or longer of labor during the War. (6 months for disabled military veterans, professional school graduates as well as the retired who returned to work to aid.)
