Awarded to Guards Lieutenant Vladimir Pavlovich Pavlov (Владимир Павлович Павлов)
For shooting down 11 enemy aircrafts with his platoon at Stalingrad while being under mortar, rifle and machine-gun fire
His brave and decisive conduct denied the enemy airforce the opportunity to attack the ground forces
Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.46 mm in width, 46.35 mm in height and weighs 30.0 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.
This original order of the Red Star is in an excellent, well above average condition with light overall wear. The details are mostly visible and the enamels are flawless apart from some minor contact marks. The reverse is in great condition too with few dings and scratches only. There have been no repairs and the screwpost is full length. It comes with its time period and well fitted silver screwplate.
An early award in excellent condition with great research for fighting at Stalingrad. Rare as such!

“Guards lieutenant PAVLOV has mastered well the craft the anti-aircraft artillery defence. He is a brave and decisive platoon commander. In the battle for elimination of the encircled German troops in Stalingrad, he and his unit were following in the rifle units combat formation and were subjected to the mortar, rifle and machine-gun enemy fire. Skilfully manoeuvring his troops in the field, his brave and decisive conduct denied the enemy airforce the opportunity to attack our ground forces. This enabled advance of our troops.
His platoon shot down 11 enemy aircrafts.
He has been promoted to the role of the deputy battery commander as he
was the best platoon commander in the unit, and showed examples of conduct in combat.
He deserves state award – order “RED STAR”.”
