Group of Soviet Orders and Medals

 

Awarded to (former) Partisan Private Ivan Anisimovich Shura (Иван Анисимович Шура)

 

For killing 2 Hitlerites by fire of his personal firearm when encountered an enemy ambush

 

 

The group consist of the following items mounted to a medal bar:

 

Order of Glory #89542

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.89 mm in width, 48.56 mm in height and weighs 26.5 gram. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This early order is in excellent condition with many details still visible. The enamel is all present and only shows some superficial flaking. There are several small dings and scratches on both sides but not distracting the overall appearance of the order. Its connection ring has not been cut and both sides show a medium dark patina.

 

Medal for the Victory over Germany

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.40 mm in width, 37.62 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 16.1 gram.

The medal is in worn condition with a fair amount of gold plating still present.

 

Medal for the Liberation of Warsaw

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.12 mm in width, 36.87 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 17.2 gram.

In excellent condition with full gold plating and crisp details.

 

Medal for the Capture of Berlin

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.02 mm in width, 37.29 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 17.1 gram.

In a nice, worn condition with most details visible and some gold plating still present.

 

Jubilee Medal “Twenty Years of Victory”

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.07 mm in width, 37.01 mm in height including its eyelet and it weighs 17.3 gram.

In excellent condition with crisp details and full gold plating

 

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“Courageous and determined fighter.

On 19 July 1944, advancing among the forward guard patrol, he encountered an enemy ambush detail in the village Stavki, Volyn region. The scout group attacked the Hitlerites and routed them. During the pursuit of the enemy group, he killed 2 Hitlerites by the fire of his personal firearms. ”

Also included in the picture gallery are a combat diary of the 41st Rifle Division of July 1944 and a map of the village Stavki which is mentioned in the citation

 

Because the ‘draft office line’ is empty we looked up the citation for his Order of the Red Star and found out private Shura was a partisan before the area he was active was liberated
