Soviet Medal for the Defense of Sevastopol Variation 1b-1 WW2
Variation with a raised rim on its obverse and a larger distance between the ends of the naval cap tally
Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.11 mm in width, 37.12 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 16.1 gram without its suspension.
This original medal is in excellent, above average condition. There are several small dings and scratches and the medal shows light to medium wear on its higher laying parts. Most details however are still present on both sides including the lettering and the hammer and sickle on its reverse. A fair amount of gold plating is still present the double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal. Its connection ring has been cut.
Hard to find
This medal was awarded to all participants in the defense of Sevastopol. Both to soldiers and civilians, who took part in the defense of Sevastopol during its siege by German forces.
