Awarded to Senior Lieutenant Vasilij Nikolaevich Kharlamov (Василий Николаевич Харламов)
For successes at the crossing of Dneiper river
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 22.1 gram without its screwplate and measures 44.86 mm in width and 46.86 mm in height. The minimum known serial number for this variation is 76677 and the maximum is 99999.
This original order of the Patriotic War 2nd class is in excellent condition with crisp details. The enamel is problem free without chipping and repairs and shows some small contact marks only. It comes with its original and well fitted silver screwplate and its screw is full length.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
“He acted courageously and fearlessly in the battles on the right bank of Dneiper river near the town Pereiaslav and the village Khalop’e. During forced crossing of Dneiper river near the village Kozintsi on 26 September 1943, he crossed to the right bank together with the rifle units and provided artillery fire correction to his unit, which assisted the next waves is crossing Dnieper. During the whole combat period on the right bank, he exemplary organised the system of scouting and spotting the enemy firing positions, as well as reporting targeting documentation to the higher headquarters. Under his command, 7 enemy trucks with troops were destroyed and 13 vehicles (one of which was a HQ vehicle with enemy documentation) was captured.
He deserves a state award – order “Patriotic war II class”.”
