Description

Medal for the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945

Variation 1a with a separately soldered eyelet and the word ‘войне’ on its reverse closer to the curved text ‘Германией’

This medal is literally a textbook example for it is portrayed in ‘Soviet Orders and Medals’ by Andrew Reznik (page 202)

Made of gold plated brass. Measures 32.34 mm in width, 37.24 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.4 gram without its suspension. 

This medal is in excellent condition with all details visible and a fair amount of gold plating still present. The double layer suspension is time period to the medal.

Awarded to Soviet service personnel who were on active service during The Great Patriotic War (Military service of 3 months or civil service of 6 months). Also awarded to some allied forces such as the post 9 September 1944 Bulgarian Armed Forces.
