Description
Documented and Researched Soviet Partisan Medals to a husband and wife
Awarded to the Jewish partisans Pavel Iosifovich Israelson (Павел Иосифович Израильсон) and Nina Vasilievna Bogdanova / Israelson (Нина Васильевна Богданова)
Pavel Iosifovich most likely received his Partisan Medal for service in the separate engineer task force company (отдельная инженерная рота специального назначения). These were the troops organised in the Summer 1942, whose tasks were to conduct diversion and sabotage operations behind the enemy lines. Acting in small groups and armed primarily with explosives, these groups often cooperated with the partisan groups.
This set consists of the following items:
Partisan Medal 1st class to Pavel Iosifovich
Made of solid silver. Measures 37.27 mm in height, 32.23 mm in width and weighs 21.8 gram. The medal is in excellent, far above average condition. All details are crisp and there are only few dings and scratches. Its connection ring has not been cut and the suspension is original to the medal.
The medal comes with its rare medal booklet dated 16 February 1967 and is numbered #101651.
Partisan Medal 2nd class to Nina Vasilievna
Made of gold plated brass. Measures 37.15 mm in height, 32.06 mm in width and weighs 16.4 gram. The medal is in prisitine condition with perfect details and full gold plating. There are very few dings and scratches and its connection ring has not been cut. Would be very hard to upgrade.
