Awarded to Guards Petty Officer Ilya Stepanovich Dzhuyan (Илья Степанович Джуян)

Medal for Combat Merit #23315
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measurements; 32.14 mm in width; 36.31 mm in height. Its eyelet is 4.73 mm wide and the medal is 2.71 mm thick. It weighs 22.1 gram.
This medal is in excellent condition with all details present. There are few dings and scratches and the higher laying parts show almost no wear. The enamel is pristine and there have been no repairs.
Medal of Nakhimov #5543
Made of gold plated brass. Measurements; 36.43 mm in width; 44.95 mm in height and it weighs 21.3 gram. Featuring admiral Nakhimov surrounded by 110 ‘pearls’. The serial number, “5543”, is stamped on the side of the medal. The minimum known serial number for this variation is 1627 and the maximum is 5855.
This Medal of Nakhimov is in excellent condition. There are few dings and scratches and the higher laying parts show little wear with all details are crisp. There have been no repairs and much of the gold plating is still present.
Medal for the Defense of Odessa
Made of gold plated brass. Measurements; 32.19 mm in width; 37.24 mm in height and weighs 17.1 gram.
The medal is in a nice but in worn condition. Much of the gold plating however is still visible and there have been no repairs on the eyelet. This medal, like the medal for the Defense of Sevastopol, shows much more wear than the other medals since they were awarded much earlier (1942) and so were worn during the largest part of the war.

Medal for the Defense of Sevastopol
Made of gold plated brass. Measurements; 32.13 mm in width; 37.05 mm in height and weighs 16.2 gram.
The medal is in nice condition but shows wear on its higher laying parts. Much of the gold plating is still visible and there have been no repairs on the eyelet. This medal, like the medal for the Defense of Odessa, shows much more wear than the other medals since they were awarded much earlier (1942) and so were worn during the largest part of the war.
Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus
In excellent condition with nice details and full gold plating. It weighs 17.2 gram and measures 32.10 mm in width and 37.28 mm in height including its eyelet.
Medal for the Victory over Germany
In excellent condition with full gold plating and crisp details.
Jubilee medals for 20 and 30 years Great Patriotic War
Both in near mint condition .
Rare and fully complete group with not only a beautiful Medal of Nakhimov but also the rarest campaign medals and an early, low numbered Medal for Combat Merit. A truly unique set!
(Medal for Combat Merit) Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or accomplishments:
“Comrade Dzhuyan took part in all combat operations the ship conducted: those at Constanța, Odessa, Sevastopol, and Feodosia. He skillfully leads the men entrusted to him, inspiring them to fulfill any and all assignment.
Comrade Dzhuyan’s watch crew is one of the best in Department Five.
Comrade Dzhuyan committed himself completely to his assignments. Nearly all breakdowns or defects that occurred in the machinery during combat operations were resolved immediately. In his duties comrade Dzhuyan is resourceful and inventive and he thoroughly prepares the machinery for combat operations. Under combat conditions he remedied breakdowns, whose repairs cannot always be carried out under on-board conditions without the assistance of a factory.
He is disciplined, modest in everyday life, and he commands authority among the men and commanders.
I nominate him for the Medal for Combat Merit.”

“Guards Petty Officer Second Class Ilya Stepanovich Dzhuyan took part in all combat operations the ship conducted at Odessa, Sevastopol, and Novorossiysk, he was involved in disembarking landing troops at Feodosia, Sudak, and Novorossiysk, and he took part in raids on enemy ports and communications.
In combat he showed himself a bold, decisive, and resourceful petty officer. The machinery he and his men service enabled the ship to operate without any accidents throughout the Great Patriotic War, during which the ship sailed more than 50 thousand miles without any kind of repairs.
For his exemplary duties at his battle station, for carrying out combat missions in an exemplary manner, and for the steadfastness and bravery he displayed in combat with the German-fascist invaders, I nominate him for the Medal of Nakhimov.
