For successfully rescuing and restoring the damaged minesweeper KTSch-218. Despite shortages of spare parts, he ensured operational readiness for all missions, improved damage-control capabilities, trained skilled ship mechanics, and organized maintenance procedures that supported vital supply operations for the Leningrad Front
Made of solid gold, silver and enamels. Measures 45.6 mm in height, 43.4 mm in width and weighs 29.1 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
In excellent, well above average condition with most details still perfectly visible and light overall wear. The red and white enamels are free from repairs and chipping and show some small dings and contact marks only. Its reverse is in similar condition with its mint mark and serial number crisp and several scratches.The order comes with it well fitted screwpate and its screw has not been shortened.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
Captain of engineer corps III rank KOLESNICHENKO has earned great respect among the officers and enlisted men of the minesweeper brigade for his efficient command of the electro-mechanic battle stations on the brigade ships and motorboats.
When the minesweeper KTSch-218 (T-218) sustained serious damage caused by enemy bombs, he exhibited exceptional skill during the ship rescue and restoration phases.
During the winter campaign, he led repair works on the ships and motorboats. In difficult circumstances and lack of spar parts, he ensured that the brigade could execute all its combat assignments and missions.
During the period of his service in the brigade, he trained many skilful ship mechanics.
Thanks to his tireless work for improving combat readiness, especially damage control and buoyancy control measures, the brigade ships could manage all damage sustained in combat.
The naval area protection ships performing operative cargo shipments for the Leningrad front had no instances of mechanism malfunctions. He organised efficient and streamlined process for routine maintenance of the ships.
He deserves to be bestowed with order “PATRIOTIC WAR I CLASS”.
