Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus
Variation 1 with a separately soldered eyelet
Made of brass. The medal measures 32.1 mm in diameter, 37.7 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 17.6 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in splendid condition with almost no traces of wear and all of the original gold-like luster still present. The details are still crisp on even the raised areas and both sides show light contact marks only. The original double layer steel suspension is typical for these early Caucasus medals and shows the NKMP stamp of the “People’s Commissariat of Local Industry”. Its connection ring has not been cut.
Impossible to upgrade
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of the Caucasus region during WW2 between July 1942 and 9 October 1943.
