During the brigade’s offensive operations in September–October 1943, the communications officer Junior Lieutenant Valov operated together with the tank battalion engaged in combat. In the area of Sharovka, under heavy artillery and machine-gun fire, when the tank battalion was fighting stubborn battles, he continuously maintained communications at the command post and personally delivered information from the battalion staff directly to the front line.
Deserving of a government award — the Order of the Red Star.
