Soviet medal for the Capture of Budapest
Variation 2 with a U-shaped eyelet
This medal is literally a textbook example for it is portrayed in ‘Soviet Orders and Medals’ by Andrew Reznik (page 206-207)
This medal for the Capture of Budapest is made out of gold plated brass. It measures 32.21 mm in diameter, 37.19 mm in height and weighs 17.6 gram without its suspension.
The medal is in nice condition with medium wear on its higher laying parts and most details and gold plating present. A dent is visible on the edge at the 3 o’clock position on its obverse (and 9 o’clock on its reverse). The brass suspension is time period to the medal and its connection ring has been cut.
Awarded to Soviet service personnel who took part in the battle of Budapest between 20 December 1944 and 15 February 1945.
